There are so many things to see & do around Estes Park, Colorado! Here are a few ideas...

Big Thompson Canyon (Hwy 34) from Loveland to Estes Park
Courtesy of T. Volan

Note: The views driving through the Big Thompson canyon are almost overwhelming. Very worth going just a little out of the way for on your way into (our out of) Estes Park, with plenty of places to pull over and admire the views or the glacier-fed river. Besides the spectacular scenery, you can often see Bighorn Sheep along the road or on the cliffs.

Chapel at St. Malo, Rt 7 near Allenspark CO

Note: St. Malo's is a Catholic retreat center open to all denominations. The beautiful chapel was built in 1935. It was visited & blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1993 during his World Youth Visit to the Denver area.

Note: There are plenty of opportunities in Estes (year round) for trail rides... whether just for an hour, or for all day. Some breakfast or dinner rides are available as well.

Family Fishing... Emma catches a fish!

NOTE: Estes Park has a paid trout fishing pond (Trout Haven) on Rt 36 (Moraine Ave). The pond is stocked yearly with Rainbow trout to guarantee a successful catch. They have all the equipment you need to fish, free of charge (you pay only for what you catch.) Because it is a private pond, there is no license required.
