Their union as a duo/duet team began in 2002 and already they are in constant demand in both the US, Russia and Europe. They have performed extensively across the United States in in June of 2005 were invited by the United Nations in Kosovo to present a “Week of Music” for the entire country/region. The Bunin/Kruger team were welcomed as musical ambassadors to the war devastated country and presented daily Master Classes as well as nightly concerts (both duet as well as concerti with orchestra) for students and teachers from over 5 countries in the region, including Albania and Serbia. A collection of Richard Fleck’s mountaineering essays from the four-corner states, and the Black Hills of South Dakota (including an unpublished prayer of Nicholas Black Elk to the spirit of the West made atop Harney Peak in 1931) with several alpine interludes in Asia, Alaska, and New England. Fleck will read from the Longs Peak section depicting his nighttime and daytime ascents as well his envisioning of Major John Wesley Powell’s first ever ascent in 1868. During the reading he will show colorful slides of Longs Peak and will be available afterwards for questions and signing of his book. Copies will be available for sale. Admission is free. For baby boomers, their Generation X offspring and everyone beyond, the Estes Park Museum is preparing a new addition to “Tracks in Time”, the permanent exhibit that describes the history of Estes Park. The 1960’s exhibit will include objects from the Museum’s permanent collection. Important contributions to community history of the era will be included such as textiles, a variety of community records including yearbooks, business advertisements, photos and popular entertainment. Many of these hotels no longer exist except on old photographs and postcards from the era. Items from Heisterkamp’s collection will recreate the fireplaces, dining rooms and lobbies in our imaginations. There will also be a brief overview of the history of each lodge. Admission is free. March Stay Tuned – Calendar is continually being updated 3/1/08 (Saturday) 10:3023rd Annual Dog Weight Pull at the South Parking Lot of the Visitor's Center. Two-day competition of strength by favorite Fidos, as they pull weighted sleds with specially designed harnesses that dispense weight evenly. Dogs from four different states (WY, CO, KS, NE) will gather and compete among eight separate weight classes. Some dogs can pull over 1000 lbs. The contest is sponsored by the Town of Estes Park & organized by Long's Peak Pullers, and is sanctioned by the International Weight Pulling Association.
